Objective: To promote basic literacy; hygiene, health and nutrition; and provide spiritual care for underprivileged children. There are three programs under this category:
Objective: To provide educational assistance to severely underprivileged children by shouldering school-related expenses.
The Scholarship covers the cost of uniforms, school supplies, and other school-related fees and also provides school snacks and one hot meal a day to the child. Aside from this, the child also attends after-school tutorials with Tiwala. He/She has a mentor, a volunteer from a local church who is outside of Tiwala and the child’s family. The mentor meets with the child once a week to spend quality time with the child, encouraging and praying with him/her. Tiwala is partnering with public schools and community officials for program implementation and monitoring.
Objective: To help parents gain Biblical perspective and understanding on raising their families according to God’s design.
Tiwala partners with local churches and conducts Bible studies among the families of the beneficiaries. This is the first step in channelling beneficiaries to local churches where they can continue to receive spiritual nurture and guidance.
Objective: To provide opportunities for poor families to augment their family income.
Tiwala, in cooperation with Blessings in a Bag (BIAB), is setting up a livelihood program for the parents of the beneficiaries. BIAB sends handmade product ideas that parents can make. Tiwala provides training and capital for these and BIAB markets and sells them abroad.
