February is planting time in the Philippines! Tiwala Farm has invested in banana trees, sweet corn, sweet potatoes and other vegetables which will be a source of food and income for our compound once the crops are harvested. We will also be planting abaca, which, together with banana leaves, can be used for making paper.
Tiwala believes in planning for the long term; hence our planting projects. We anticipate making our own organic paper in the future as one of our livelihood projects and self-supporting endeavours.
