‘Tiwala Jam' is a music workshop for street children and inner-city youths. The Tiwala Jammers meet at our Kalye Tiwala Centre every Friday night for music lessons and a ‘jam'.
We believe that music is a great outlet for our children, who have almost all experienced pain and suffering in their lives. The Tiwala Jam program provides a healthy environment in which the children can express themselves freely through music. Many of our children are very talented, therefore being a part of this group gives them the opportunity to develop their talent and with that, increases their confidence.
Last Christmas, our Tiwala Jammers had the opportunity to perform at our Christmas function at Victory Church in Legazpi City. We plan to provide our Jammers more opportunity to perform and share their talent in public, as this is a great encouragement to them.
We hope to expand this program, eventually having Tiwala Jam sessions with various groups of children around the city, who would benefit from the program.
